Zcash Tests 25-Second Blocks
Zcash has activated its NU7 upgrade on the public testnet, marking an important step toward the planned November mainnet rollout. The upgrade reduces the network’s target block interval from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, potentially allowing faster first confirmations. NU7 also disables version 4 transactions and introduces a Network Sustainability Mechanism that redirects part of transaction fees toward future block rewards. The update is particularly relevant for users holding ZEC in the legacy Sprout shielded pool, as those funds could become unspendable after the mainnet activation unless moved beforehand. Zcash developers are expected to make a final mainnet decision and set the activation height on October 20, while November 5 remains the target launch date. For xbit.money users who exchange ZEC, monitoring the upgrade and wallet compatibility is important. Check the latest Zcash rate before making an exchange.
