USD1 Goes Live on Canton

World Liberty Financial (WLFI) has issued its USD1 stablecoin natively on the Canton Network for the first time, a blockchain purpose-built for institutional finance. Previously arriving via bridges from other chains, native issuance now lets USD1 settle alongside tokenized assets within a single synchronized transaction, cutting settlement risk. The stablecoin can serve as derivatives collateral, support institutional lending, and handle issuance and redemption of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). USD1's reserves and mint/redemption processing are handled by BitGo Bank & Trust; the token's market cap sits near $4.05 billion, making it the sixth-largest stablecoin per DeFiLlama data. Canton says its network processes more than $9 trillion in tokenized assets monthly. The move underscores a widening split between retail-focused stablecoins and institutional-grade networks.
