US GDP Data Goes Onchain
The U.S. Department of Commerce has teamed up with Chainlink to publish official economic statistics directly onchain for the first time. Six new data feeds carry Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) figures — real GDP, the PCE price index, and real final sales — across ten blockchains including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism. The first release showed U.S. GDP grew at an annualized 1.5% in the second quarter of 2026, a clear slowdown from 2.1% in Q1. Developers building DeFi protocols, tokenized assets, and prediction markets can now pull verified government data directly, without intermediaries. Commerce officials say more statistics will follow onchain over time. Chainlink's LINK token traded near $8.10 at publication.
