Thailand Opens Trading for BTC and ETH ETFs

Thailand’s new rules for cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds take effect on October 16, 2026, allowing locally established funds to trade on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. During the initial phase, Bitcoin and Ethereum will be the only eligible cryptocurrencies. These ETFs will give investors exposure to the assets’ prices without requiring them to purchase or store digital coins directly. Under the regulatory framework, funds must track the spot price of the underlying cryptocurrency, while digital assets must be held by licensed custodians. Thai securities firms will also face restrictions on helping retail clients invest in overseas crypto ETFs during the initial rollout. The changes expand access to regulated crypto investment products, although price volatility remains a significant risk.
