Solana Tests 150ms Finality

Solana has moved its Alpenglow upgrade to the public testnet, with the goal of reducing transaction finality from roughly 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds. Finality is important for exchanges, bridges and merchants because it marks the point when a payment can be treated as irreversible. The upgrade replaces Solana’s current TowerBFT consensus system with Votor, allowing validators to exchange votes directly and finalize blocks after one or two rounds. Users will not need to change their wallets or how they send SOL. Developers are now testing the migration on Solana’s established public testnet to identify compatibility and reliability issues before a potential mainnet rollout. September 28 appears in the development schedule, but it remains tentative and is not a confirmed Alpenglow launch date. Track the latest SOL rate and exchange conditions on xbit.money.
