SharpLink Opposes EIP-8363
SharpLink CEO and former BlackRock executive Joseph Chalom has publicly opposed Ethereum improvement proposal EIP-8363, dubbed the "Tapered Issuance Burn." The proposal would progressively burn validator rewards as the share of staked ETH grows, cutting issuance yield to zero once staked ETH reaches roughly 60.25 million coins — about half the supply. Chalom argues this would destroy Ethereum's biggest edge over Bitcoin, its ability to generate native yield, raise the cost of capital across DeFi, and could push institutions to sell ETH when unstaking. Aave founder Stani Kulechov has backed his stance. Messari analysts note ETH issuance already sits at just about 0.85% a year, so they rate the proposal's odds of passing as low.
