Metaplanet Denies BTC Sale
Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich has shut down speculation that the Japanese Bitcoin treasury firm was selling its holdings, after blockchain trackers flagged a transfer of 5,014 BTC (about $322 million) from company wallets. Gerovich called it a "routine custody operation" between Metaplanet's own custodial addresses, not a sale — total holdings remain unchanged at 43,000 BTC. Moving the sum cost the company roughly $8 in network fees. Metaplanet is the world's third-largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder and the biggest in Asia; per Arkham data, it currently sits on an unrealized loss of about $1.4 billion. Despite that, the firm keeps expanding its position, targeting 100,000 BTC by the end of 2026 and 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027. Track BTC's live rate and exchange it at a great price on xbit.money.
