Kraken May Liquidate 479 BTC
Kraken, through its affiliate Payward Interactive, holds the trigger on 479 BTC pledged as collateral by USBC against an $18 million loan. Per an Aug. 7 filing, if Bitcoin's price falls to roughly $48,850, the borrower gets a 24-hour window to add collateral; if it drops further to about $45,090, Kraken can liquidate the pledged Bitcoin immediately, without notice. As of July 31, the loan's collateral coverage stood at 59.8%, with the pledged BTC valued around $30.1 million. Bitcoin-backed lending like this is becoming more common among crypto firms, but cases like this show how quickly ordinary price swings can turn into real liquidation risk.
