JPMorgan Considers Its Own Stablecoin
JPMorgan Chase is considering launching its own stablecoin as major banks accelerate efforts to bring digital assets into traditional payments. According to Bankless, citing The Wall Street Journal, more than a dozen major banks are exploring a global stablecoin consortium. A potential JPMorgan stablecoin would complement JPM Coin, its existing tokenized deposit product. Unlike a bank deposit token tied to a specific institution, a stablecoin could move more freely across wallets, apps, exchanges and blockchains. At the same time, thousands of smaller U.S. banks have announced the BankChain Alliance, a shared blockchain network designed to support stablecoins, tokenized deposits, smart payments and automated settlement. The growing involvement of banks could accelerate institutional adoption of digital assets and expand the role of stablecoins in global financial infrastructure.
